Kitchen Wall Vents - vent hood should be vented outside. ventilation hood is governed by the cubic feet per minute or CFM. CFM minimum is 70, but I recommend 300 to 400 for your home. Here's why.
The cubic feet in part directly by the size of the kitchen. How would you know this? You multiply the length by width by height, and then divide by three. This number gives you a cubic foot of air. For example, if your kitchen is ten feet long by ten feet wide and ten feet high, which will give you 1000. It is your cubic feet of air. But the simplest way to find out would be to multiply the length by the width and get your square footage of the room. Take that number and multiply it by two. For example, if your kitchen is ten feet by ten feet, which provides 100 square feet. Then multiply that number by two or 200 CFMS.

I do not recommend the recirculation ventilation hood. If enough space is available, there are three ways to vent outside,
- through a side wall
- through the roof
- through soffit
But if you cook a lot at home, you should have at least 250 CFMS circulate and move air out of your home. If you do not cook, you can recirculate. If you cook, vent outside.
new building codes for residential home requires all bathroom and kitchen vents to the outside, not into the attic.
When buying a new ventilation hood, look outside the box. This will tell you how much CFMS use. Standard eight-inch pipe, but some require a larger size. These pipes must be contained dampers. This will keep the cold air inside your home during the summer when the ventilation hood is not in use. This will save you money on your electricity bill.
